LIGHT OF EXPOSURE:
JASON MASSOT - ROAD TO LAS VEGAS (2010)

This year we are starting to feature fellow practitioners who have been working consistently in the field of documentary, but who had not been getting the exposure that we felt their work merited. We are proud to feature the work of a long standing contributor to Quadrangle/Otherfield, Jason Massot. Road to Las Vegas is a film shot over the five years in which the Melton family (Vanessa and Maurice and their five kids) relocated from Alaska to Las Vegas. Catching up with them regularly throughout five years of almost continual crisis, Jason managed to establish extraordinary levels of trust with the family, as it is held together by Vanessa, and nearly destroyed by Maurice. The film genuinely is - as the Guardian once suggested - a modern day Grapes of Wrath.
